Afghanistan’s Wheelchair Basketball Team

In a young Afghanistan, with most of its population under 25, the momentum to move forward from its war-torn history is building. While peace talks go on internationally, the homegrown stories of its people’s resilience also continue, and the story of the national team of wheelchair basketball is one of them. For the first time in Afghanistan’s history, its men and women’s teams are training to qualify for the Summer Paralympics, to be held in Tokyo in 2021. VICE’s Natashya Gutierrez follows them as they prepare to compete in the biggest international tournament of their lifetime.
