However, the government has not yet resolved their demands The Pashtun Salvation Movement (PTM) today called for a public meeting in Miranshah, the capital of North Waziristan, to punish those responsible for the Kharkamar incident and to prevent any unrest in the region. In the Kharkamar incident, the Pakistani army opened fire on members of the Pashtun Salvation Movement, killing 15 Pashtuns and wounding 40 others. PTM leader Manzoor Pashtun told the gathering that any unrest in the region should be stopped and he reiterated the PTM’s earlier call for an end to targeted killings and for missing persons to be brought to justice. Landmines in the tribal areas should be cleared and civilians should not be harassed after any untoward incident. He claimed that there was a conspiracy to destroy the equipment in the tribal areas, adding that not only men but also women in the area had a right to the equipment and they would not give it to anyone. He also demanded the release of PTM prisoners. Mohsin Dawar said he was aware of all the conspiracies to create unrest in the region, but the PTM would continue its peaceful struggle for its rights and would not allow the region to fall into unrest. During the PTM meeting, the state shut down mobile phone and internet services in the area. The PTM meeting in North Waziristan was attended by thousands of people, including many family members of the missing.
